Mary Smolinski Paliani , 88, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Harborside Health Care/Woods Edge in Bridgewater, N.J. Born in Newark, she formerly resided in Raritan before moving to Somerville in 1955. Mrs. Paliani was a homemaker and an avid child care provider. She was a self taught artist who enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Joseph L., in 1999, two brothers, William and Frank Smolinski and a sister, Stella Smolinski. Surviving are her loving son, James Paliani and wife, Vivian of Raritan, her loving daughter, Jane Recchia, and husband, Richard of Hillsborough, her cherished grandchildren, Beth and Joseph Recchia, AnnMarie Paliani and Kathryn Simon, her dear sister, Ann Sawran of Florida and her dear brother, Frederick Smolinski of Maryland. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ, 08876 followed by an 11:00 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Bernard R.C.
