Anteo Petronio , 91, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013. Born in Visinada, Province of Pola, Italy, he arrived in the United States in 1955. A former resident of North Plainfield, he resided in Branchburg since 1995. Mr. Petronio was a veteran of the Italian Army during World War II. He was a former Chef at Snuffy's Restaurant in Scotch Plains for fifteen years and then worked as a custodian for the Scotch Plains Board of Education for twenty years, until retiring in 1992. Mr. Petronio was a communicant of St. Bernard R.C. Church in Bridgewater. He was an avid soccer fan and he especially enjoyed watching the Italian soccer team. He was an avid gardening and was extremely proud of his vegetable garden. Anteo enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giuseppe and Valeria Sabaz Petronio; two brothers; and two sisters. Surviving are his beloved wife of 63 years, Ancilla Boscarato Petronio; his loving daughter, Anna Maria Prumachuk and her husband, Paul of Bridgewater; his loving sons, John Petronio and his wife, Linda of Hampton and Sergio Petronio and wife, Laura of Branchburg; his six cherished grandchildren, Kristina, Nicole, Amanda, and Steven Petronio and Laura and Joseph Prumachuk; and his dear sister, Antonella Stefani and her husband, Carlo of Conco Vincenza, Italy. Funeral services will begin with a prayer at 9:15 AM on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 followed by a 10 AM funeral liturgy at St. Bernard R.C. Church, 500 Route 22 East, Bridgewater. Entombment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery and Mausoleum, Route 28, Bridgewater. Viewing hours are Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
