Obituary

Yolanda Villacampa, age 69, died after a courageous, long battle with cancer on July 19, 2020 at St. Peters Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ surrounded by loved ones. She was born on July 2, 1951 in Havana, Cuba to her loving parents Roberto and Yolanda Sosin. She immigrated with her parents and sister Miriam to the United States in 1962. She graduated from Union Hill High School in Union City in 1970 and soon afterwards began her career working in New York City. She retired as a VP from Franklin Templeton in 2015 where she was a dedicated employee for over 35 years. Yolanda enjoyed traveling, theatre, gardening, the beach, and spending time with her family. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, Evan and Madeline. She was compassionate, hard-working, generous, and lived life to the fullest. Yolanda was an incredibly strong, resilient woman who bravely faced many challenges, including a bout with cancer in her thirties and both attacks on the World Trade Center. She is survived by her companion of over 30 years Jose Baptista, daughter Laura (Christopher) Keane, mother Yolanda Sosin, sister Miriam (Ramon) Martelo, sister Elizabeth (Alberto) Rodrigues, grandchildren Evan and Madeline, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 10:30am at St. Bernard's R.C. Church in Bridgewater, NJ. Following the service, a remembrance lunch will be held for the immediate family.
