Obituary

William J. Sullivan, 83, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at his home with his wife and family by his side. William was born in Brooklyn, NY, to William H. Sullivan and his wife Anna (Sinnott) on April 16, 1937. He married his loving wife Ann, in 1963, moving from Flatbush, NY, to Bridgewater in 1965, where he resided until his death. William was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church, working Friday Night Bingo for many years. William served in the military from 1954-1958, first in the United States Army then transferring to the United States Air Force. After leaving the military, he studied computers and worked for Chemical Bank in New York City. Eventually, he moved to American Standard in Piscataway where he worked for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. William (Sully) was an active member of Country Hills Fire Department for 55 years, serving as Chief between 1972-1974 and then again in 1978. He enjoyed bow hunting and was an avid fisherman. William was a member of the Ken Lockwood Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Somerset County Fish and Game Protective Association. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Anna and William H. Sullivan and a dear daughter Eileen. William is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ann (McDonough), four dear children, Joann and husband Francis Gavigan of Hillsborough, NJ; Patricia of Bridgewater, NJ; Susan and husband Robert Kravitz of Bethlehem Township, NJ; William of Bridgewater, NJ; and six cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Ryan, Amanda, Benjamin, Owen, and Sara. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rte. 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 10:15am. Mass will follow at Holy Trinity Church at 11am in Bridgewater, NJ. Burial to follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in William's memory to Country Hills Volunteer Fire Department, 264 Milltown Road Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
