William T. Simon

William T. Simon (Bill), 80, of Hillsborough, NJ, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at RWJ Hospital in Somerville. Born in Newark, NJ, Bill resided in Branchburg for many years before moving to Hillsborough.

Bill was a veteran, he served in the Army, 1st Calvary Division in Korea. He was a Volkswagen Master Mechanic; he retired from Douglas Volkswagen in Summit, NJ where he worked for over 30 years.

He was an avid fisherman who made frequent trips to Montauk New York to join friends on the party boats. Bill liked being outdoors, canoeing, hiking and communing with nature. In his younger years he loved to work on cars especially his 1962 Jaguar XKE he named Agatha. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Frances and William C. Simon and his sister, Patricia Silock.

Surviving are his loving partner of 25 years, Mary Ann Chianelli, two sons, Travis and wife Sarah Pidgeon of Ocean, NJ; Shawn and wife Denise Simon of Hawaii; his brother, Edward Simon of Metuchen, NJ; and two grandchildren, Wesley and Connor. In addition to Mary Ann's children Lynda and James Duffy of Branchburg, NJ, Julian Chianelli, of Green Brook, NJ, and Nora and Tim Hionis of Green Brook, NJ and their respective eight grandchildren; Emmett Duffy, Aidan Duffy, Ava Chianelli, Nicholas Rose, Ki Hionis, Marianthe Hionis, Roxanne Hionis and Lydia Hionis
