Obituary

William C. Gerard , 89, of Branchburg, died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He resided in Lyndhurst for 61 years before moving to Branchburg a year ago. Mr. Gerard was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Gerard worked as a Assistant Traffic Manager for Congoleum Corporation in Kearny, and retired in 1985 after working there for 40 years. William was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Lyndhurst where he was an Usher, a member of their Holy Name Society, and a member of Mt. Carmel Seniors. He was currently a communicant of St. Bernard R.C. Church in Bridgewater. William was also a member of the Branchburg Seniors, a member of the Old Guard of Nutley, a member of the Guidetti-Kogalski-Wase Post #3549 of Lyndhurst, and a member of AARP Club 4866. He enjoyed horseracing, was an avid traveler and enjoyed taking trips with his wife to Atlantic City. He especially loved the Jersey Shore. William was a loyal fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. He enjoyed the times he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and four sisters. Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Catherine Dellosso Gerard; his cherished daughter, Debbie Gerard of Branchburg; his beloved son, Frank Cirminiello of Boston, MA; two adored grandchildren, John W. Costa and wife, Karen of Flagtown and Jackie Costa Berberian and husband, Richard of Bridgewater; four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Emily, Samantha and Ava; his sister, Lucia Brookes of Virginia; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will begin with a prayer at 9:15 AM on Monday, August 31, 2009 at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638 followed by a 10 AM Funeral Mass at St. Bernard R.C. Church, 500 Route 22 East, Bridgewater. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater. Viewing hours will be Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
