William Robert Fry, of Branchburg, born March 16th, 1951 passed away on November 12th after battling brain cancer. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and an all-around great guy. Bill is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Colleen (Kelly) and three sons Christian (Tammy), Bryan (Keri) and Matthew (Britten) and six grandchildren: Natalie, Riley, Kamryn, Madelyn, Matthew and Brendan. Born in Jersey City, Bill attended Hudson Catholic High School and St. Peter's College, and was proud of his Eagle Scout achievement. He was predeceased by his parents William and Marge Fry and his in-laws Edward & Edna Kelly who loved him like a son. Bill spent his career at various hospitals in Finance Administration, retiring from Parker Home where he enjoyed spending time with the patients, telling stories and playing bocce ball. Bill was a Eucharist minister, bringing communion to hospital patients and the homebound. In addition, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, Make a Wish and various other organizations, Bill exemplified 'Paying it Forward'. Bill could often be found on the softball field or golf course, spending time with his sons and friends while enjoying a few beers. A long suffering Mets fan, Bill had a tradition of attending opening day where the pre-game tailgate party was often better than the ball game. Bill and Colleen enjoyed flea markets where they also met many people. Anywhere Bill went, he could make a friend. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to the Northwell Health Foundation (support.northwell.edu/braintumor) or Atlantic Health Hospice. To give via check, please make a check payable to "Northwell Health Foundation" and write "Brain Tumor Biotech Center" in the memo. You may include a note that the gift is in honor of William Fry. Once the gift is received, we will ensure it gets deposited into our brain tumor fund. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Lenox Hill Hospital; their brilliance in clinical trials added months to Bill's life. Thanks also goes to the nurses and aids with Atlantic Hospice who gave Bill outstanding treatment for the last few months. A viewing will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 from 9am-10am. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home at 10:15am followed by an 11am mass at Our Lady of Lourdes in Whitehouse Station, NJ. As COVID will limit attendance at the services, the family will plan a celebration of life at a later time. Sharing your memories of Bill will be a comfort to the family. The world has lost a great guy – may he rest in peace.
