Virginia Omelio Bridgewater, NJ Virginia Omelio, 90, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 12, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Somerville. She was born and raised in Plainfield, NJ, where she resided for most of her life before moving to Bridgewater 33 years ago. Virginia was the owner and operator for Johnston Avenue Bakery for 72 years of her life before her retiring in 2000. Virginia took great pride in her family business and loved baking, however making birthday cakes for all her grandchildren's birthdays was her specialty. She was hard working, loving, caring, and lived for her family, and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was what she cherished most. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Gelsomina and Vincenzo Natale; her beloved husband of 31 years, John (1980); two brothers, John and Patrick; and five sisters; Mary, Matilda, Sophia, Amelia, Antoinette, and Clara. Surviving are her three dear sons, John and wife Janet Omelio of Readington, NJ; Vincent and wife Theresa of Readington, NJ; and Jerry Omelio of Bridgewater, NJ; one loving daughter, Shirley Merrill of Flemington, NJ; her brother in law Michael Omelio of North Plainfield, NJ; eight cherished grandchildren, Michael, Christina, Marc, Jaqueline, Peter, Vincent, Brian and Jessica; nine cherished great grandchildren, Michaela, Colin, Giavanna, Kendal, Nathan, Matthew, Giuliana, Thomas and Nicholas; and many wonderful nieces and nephews . Viewing will be held Friday, February 14, 2020 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Funeral services will start with a prayer at the funeral home at 8:45am on Saturday, February 15, 2020 followed by a 9:30am funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in Whitehouse Station, NJ. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ.
