Thomas S. Van Syckel Jr. Bridgewater, NJ Thomas Van Syckel, 81, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Eastern Star Home in Bridgewater. Born in Bound Brook, NJ, Thomas resided in Belle Mead for 40 years before moving to Bridgewater 4 years ago. Thomas graduated from Bound Brook High School, Class of 1958. He then went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma University. Thomas was the President of Van Syckel Inc, before retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Bound Brook Ivy Hook & Ladder #1, Montgomery TWP Board of Fire Commissioners, Somerville West End Hose Co. #3, Somerset Savings Bank Board of Directors, Bound Brook Rotary, Far Hills Race Meeting Committee, Raritan Valley Symphonic Orchestra, and the Blawenburg Band. Thomas enjoyed spending time at his home in Long Beach Island (LBI) and traveling with his late wife Lynn. Thomas collected classic cars and vintage LBI postcards. He was an avid fisherman and had a great love for animals, especially his cats. The one thing Thomas enjoyed the most was spending quality time with his family, especially his granddaughter Logan Lynn. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Betty and T. Sanford Van Syckel, and his loving wife of 35 years, Lynn Velthaus Van Syckel (2000). Surviving are his two dear sons, Ryan and wife Danielle Van Syckel of Neshanic Station, NJ; Thomas D. Van Syckel and significant other Linda of Huntington Valley, PA; a loving daughter, Tracy and husband Len Pizzolato of Belle Mead, NJ; and one cherished granddaughter, Logan Lynn. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South Branchburg, NJ, 08876. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 10:15am. Mass will take place at Bound Brook Presbyterian Church at 11am. Burial will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Thomas' memory to St. Hubert's Animal Shelter, 3201 US-22 Somerville, NJ 08876.
