Thomas Joannou, 69, of Branchburg, NJ, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, June 20, 2019. Born in Queens, NY, Thomas lived in Piscataway for 20 years before residing in Branchburg, NJ 26 years ago.
Thomas was a Microbiologist for over 25 years achieving the level of Director before his retirement. He was a member of The Society of Cosmetic Chemists, The Society of Microbiology, and was a brilliant hardworking man who loved his work.
He enjoyed reading, especially history, was a car enthusiast, and liked watching sports, especially since he was an avid Mets fan.
One of Thomas's favorite ways to pass time was taking trips to the Jersey Shore. Thomas enjoyed spending quality time with his family especially his nieces and nephews. His family meant everything to him, and he will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rose and Charles Joannou.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 28 years, Susan Frank Joannou, his dear sister, Stelani (Stel) and husband Robert (Woody) Woods of Sparks, NV; two cherished nephews, Dean and Robert; three adored nieces, Nichole, Kami, and Amy; and eight cherished great- nephews.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 3-7pm with Trisagion service at 6pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
Funeral services will begin with a prayer at the Funeral Home on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 10am followed by an 11am Funeral Liturgy at St. George Greek Orthodox Church 1101 River Rd, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ.
