Thelma M. Walsh

Thelma M. Walsh, 84, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at RWJ University Hospital in Somerville. Born in Staten Island, NY, Thelma resided in Branchburg for approximately 55 years.

Thelma graduated high school from St. Joseph Hill Academy on Staten Island. She then went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree from Hunter College in Education. She also received her Master's Degree from Hunter College in Mathematics. For 20 plus years, Thelma worked for Branchburg Board of Education as an Elementary School Teacher before retiring in 2005.

Thelma enjoyed knitting, painting, playing mahjong, traveling and spending summers and holidays at her home on the Outer Banks of NC. Most importantly, Thelma enjoyed spending quality time with her family especially participating in the lives of her grandchildren. During her time in Branchburg Thelma was active in numerous clubs and organizations including the Branchburg Woman's Club, the Branchburg Republican Club and the Cub Scout and Boy Scout organizations.

Thelma is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Thelma and John Langell, her loving husband of 30 years, Richard J. Walsh (1997), two brothers, Richard "Dick" Langell, John "Jack" Langell, and her cherished granddaughter, Madeline.

Surviving are her three dear sons, Richard A. and wife Jennifer Walsh of Branchburg, NJ; Brian W. and wife Lori of Richmond, VA; Shawn P. and wife Debbie Walsh of Bridgewater, NJ; eight cherished grandchildren, Richard" Ryan", Brendan, Kevin, Lily, Cameron, Patrick, Jack, and Liam, and many loving nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.

A prayer service will begin at Branchburg Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 8:15a.m. Her funeral mass will take place at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville, NJ at 9a.m. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ.
