Susan Komsa (nee Scholp)

June 25, 1952 - Feb. 9, 2024

Susan Scholp Komsa, daughter of Anna and Howard Scholp of Watchung NJ and a longtime resident of Annandale, NJ died February 9, 2024 of a stroke.

Susan was known for her generosity of spirit and her compassion for animals. She was an exceptional ballroom dancer, and loved dancing with her late husband, Zach. An avid seamstress, she could sew her own clothes from an early age. In recent years, she sewed hundreds of blankets for family and loved ones. She was the cool aunt, always up for a shopping trip, lunch date, or phone chat. Susan's greatest passion, however, was for animals. She rescued countless dogs and cats, and for many years had horses and ponies at her home in Annandale. Susan's personality was magnetic. Everyone who came to know her became her friend. Her legacy of love will live on in all who had the privilege to know her.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Zachary Komsa, stepdaughter Michelle Komsa, and grandson Matthew Theobold.

Surviving are her son David Martin, and stepchildren Steven Komsa (Lori), Nicole Halligan (Kenneth) and Jennifer Komsa-Colangelo, as well as grandchildren, Kenneth, Nicholas, Madison, Andrew, Zachary, Emma, John and Colin. Also surviving are her brother, Alexander Scholp (Diane), her brother Howard Scholp (Diane), and her sister Janet Marks. She is lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews and friends whom she cherished.
