Susan Caden Bridgewater, NJ Susan Caden, 73, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2019, at her home. Born in New York City, she moved to Bridgewater 41 years ago. Susan earned her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and received her MS in speech pathology from Columbia University. She served as an adjunct professor of speech pathology at NYU and was clinical director of a speech and hearing clinic in Manhattan. She was a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association. Following this, she served as PTO co-president of Crim Elementary School and worked as an administrator for The American Red Cross. Susan also dedicated time to volunteering at the Steeplechase Cancer Center and the Somerset County Library. Susan loved doing yoga and spending time in Spring Lake. She enjoyed her travels through Europe and vacations in Maine, the North Carolina Outer Banks, California, and Hawaii. Susan most loved spending quality time with her family, especially her two granddaughters. She also enjoyed decorating for the holidays and hosting family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Susan is preceded in death by her loving parents Estelle and Harry Berkowitz. Surviving are her loving and dear husband of 47 years, Jerry Caden of Bridgewater, NJ; her cherished daughter Jennifer and husband Marc Reed of Oakland, NJ; her dear sister Dr. Mina Berkowitz of Manhattan, NY; and two adored granddaughters Cadie and Cydney. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, from 4-8 pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ, 08876. A service in her honor will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, from 10-11 am at the Branchburg Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mount Airy Rd, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
