Sebastiano "Sam" Russo , 70, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012, at Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice in Mount Holly, NJ. Born in Giardini Naxos, Italy, Sam came to the United States in 1969 and resided in Raritan and then Bridgewater for twenty years, before moving to Bound Brook nine years ago. Mr. Russo was a Chef for 43 years and worked at various restaurants, including La Fontana for ten years, retiring in 1995. Sam was an avid fisherman, was a member of the Round Valley Trout Association in Lebanon, and had a great passion for cooking. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mariano and Maria Russo; and a brother, Antonio. Surviving are his beloved wife of 44 years, Amalia Falanga Russo; his two cherished daughters, Maria Parisi and her husband, Jeff of Somerville and Melina Russo of Hillsborough; his grandson, Dylan; a brother and a sister, in Sicily, Italy; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638 with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:30 PM.
