Samuel Vitale, 93, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Sunrise of Bridgewater. Born in Garfield, NJ, Sam resided in Forked River for 12 years and Toms River for 14 years before moving to Bridgewater 4 years ago.

Sam graduated from Garfield High School, Class of 1948. He then went on to work for House of Carpets as a Carpet Mechanic for 38 years before retiring in 1992.

Sam served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1949.

Sam was a member of the Italian American Club in Forked River, the Bridgewater Senior Citizens Club and the Old Guard Association in Toms River.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Sarah and Carmello Vitale, his loving wife of 66 years, Theresa M. Vitale (2021) and a son Jeffrey Vitale (1999).

Surviving are his dear son James and wife Bernedette Vitale of Fairlawn, NJ; a loving daughter Laura and husband David Mitchell of Raritan, NJ; and five cherished grandchildren, LoriAnn, Thomas, Brianna, Mikayla, and Kyle.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 10am at St. Bernard R.C. Church in Bridgewater, NJ.
