Salvatore Paul Nocilla

Salvatore Paul Nocilla, 82, of Bozeman, MT, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Gallatin Nursing Home. Born in New York, Salvatore resided in Bozeman, MT for 17 years.

Sal graduated from Plainfield High School, Class of 1960. He was an avid singer. Sal was in a band which consisted of Albert Price, Walter Price, Walter Popdora, and Chester Popdora. Salvatore and Bill Jennings traveled throughout the east coast in DeSoto for gigs. Sal even performed on the Dick Clark Show. Later on, Sal sang with Joey Dee and the Starliters. They are most famous for "Peppermint Twist". The group was the house band for the Peppermint Lounge in New York City.

After starting his family, Sal found another passion for painting. He would sit at the mountain top, sketch, and finish his paintings. Sal's paintings are about preserving history and something that you want to be remembered for. He took great pride in all of his paintings.

Sal loved children, spending time outdoors, and fishing. The one thing Sal enjoyed the most was spending quality time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rita Lorraine and Joseph Wernicki.

Surviving are his loving sister, Arlene and husband Anthony Gambino of Bridgewater, NJ; many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 6-9pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. A prayer service will begin at 7:30pm at the funeral home on Friday, October 21, 2022.

Interment will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:30am at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ.
