Obituary

Roslyn Sherman (nee Ackerman) 7/6/1926 -9/18/2022

Our beloved mother of 5 sons, grandmother to 10, and great grandmother to 12 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family at the age of 96. She is preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Sam and Paul; and her beloved husband Leonard (2019).

Roslyn was born in Borough Park, NY, to her late parents, Bernard and Frieda Ackerman. Her family moved to Newark where she graduated from South Side High School in 1944.

She worked for the Army during the war at the Atlantic Overseas Air Transport Command in Newark.

After High School she met and married Leonard on VJ day, September 2, 1945 and were married for 74 wonderful years.

Len and Roslyn opened Sherman & Sons, a jewelry business in Bridgewater in 1968, which grew to a six store chain. Roslyn was the store Bookkeeper, was a great salesperson, and even worked at the store after her retirement wrapping presents at Christmas.

Roslyn was a life member of Hadassah, past President of Temple Knesseth Israel in Bound Brook, and was the Den Mother to her sons Boy Scouts.

Roslyn loved traveling with her husband Leonard to Europe, Hong Kong, and Israel. They also spent many winters in Hawaii and Florida.

Roslyn was an avid family photographer who took thousands of pictures of her family members. She would carefully place the photos in albums, and they would be scattered all over the living room tables, inside chests of drawers, and too many other places to mention.

Roslyn will be remembered as a sweet, loving, caring, and beautiful person by all who knew her.

Memorial contributions may be made in Roslyn's memory to Temple Knesseth Israel in Bound Brook, NJ.
