Rose M. Fernandez Campanaro
, 78, died Sunday November 4, 2007 at the Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, N.J. Born in Nicaragua, she immigrated to the United States in 1957. She spent most of her life living in Scotch Plains, then resided in South Bound Brook for four years before moving to Bridgewater nine years ago.
Rose was a retired seamstress having worked for various local dress manufacturing companies for twenty years and was a former member of the Garment Workers Union of Newark. She was a former co-owner of District Constructors Company of Scotch Plains, N.J. for ten years until retiring in 1994.
Rose was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church of South Bound Brook and was a very devout catholic, making many pilgrimages to Our Lady of the Roses in Bayside, Queens. She was a very caring, loving and giving person who put everyone else first. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Giuseppe in 1979.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Maria Page and husband, William of Bridgewater, her loving son, Luis Campanaro of Plainfield, her cherished grandchildren, Marisa, Joseph, Robert, Rosa, Louis and Celina, her dear brother, Alvaro Fernandez and wife, Alma, her dear sisters, Alice Asch and husband, Jorge, Peggy Gonzalez, Elsie Laureano and husband, Hurtado and sister-in-law, Ligia Caranza, all of Costa Rica.
Funeral services will begin 10:00 A.M. Thursday with a prayer at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Highway 202 south, Branchburg, N.J. 08876 (908 526-7638) followed by an 11:00 A.M. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, 122 High Street, South Bound Brook. Interment will be in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater. Visitation hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
