Rosaleen McAuley, 92, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Rosaleen, known to all as Marie, was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, daughter of Rose and Patrick Monaghan. After marrying her husband Brendan, the couple immigrated to the US in 1955. After a brief time in Pennsylvania, they moved to New Jersey, where they settled and raised their daughter in North Plainfield. In her early years, Marie worked at Teppers Department Store and then Bambergers/Macy's. For years Marie worked in cosmetics before making her career shift, taking a position as the store's main switchboard operator. She transferred to the Bridgewater store and was part of the store's grand opening team. Marie was also named an Ambassador for Bambergers, an elite program that recognized outstanding sales and service. During her years in North Plainfield, Marie was an active member of the St. Joseph's Altar Rosary Society, President of the PTA and supporter of the Knights of Columbus, where her husband Brendan served as Grand Knight. Marie proudly became a US Citizen in October 1977. Upon moving to Bridgewater in 1988, Marie embraced every opportunity to travel both domestically and internationally. Committed to her belief in giving back, Marie served as a volunteer at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville for many years and adopted a family every holiday through her parish. She is preceded by her beloved husband Brendan (1997), her parents Rose and Patrick Monaghan, a sister Kathleen Tohill and a brother Desmond Monaghan. She is survived by her loving daughter Mary Brenda McAuley of Bridgewater, NJ. A funeral mass will take place on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 10am at St. Bernard R.C. Church in Bridgewater, NJ.
