Ronald Schmalz, 86, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Ronald spent 38 years in Branchburg.

Ron graduated from South Side High School in Newark, Class of 1953. He then went on to work for the City of Newark as a Police Officer for 29 years before his retirement in 1990.

Ronald was a member of the Blue Knights, and the former president of the Senior Citizen Club in Branchburg. He loved taking care of his garden, taking trips with his wife Margaret to Atlantic City, Playing Call of Duty, and most importantly, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ethel and Roy Schmalz, three brothers, Leroy Schmalz, Richard Schmalz, and Robert Schmalz, a sister, June Purcell, and a son, Michael Schmalz.

Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Margaret Esposito Schmalz; his dear son, Ronald and wife Sharon Schmalz of Cranbury, NJ; his loving daughter, Barbara and husband Steven Cornella of Bridgewater, NJ; five cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Melissa, Nicole, Steven Jr., and Alyssa, and twelve adored great grandchildren.
