Robert W. Lenz, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Pine Acres Rehabilitation Center in Madison, NJ. Born in Essen-Rellinghausen, Germany, he immigrated to the United States and lived in Woodhaven, NY for over 60 years before moving to Basking Ridge, NJ last year.
Robert served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean conflict as a Specialist Third Class.
While living in Woodhaven, Robert worked for Joy Manufacturing as a machinist first class, for over 35 years before his retirement in 1993. Part of his handiwork still rests on the Moon's surface.
Robert enjoyed riding his bicycle, taking care of all kinds of animals from birds to stray cats and gardening. He always had a helping hand for all his neighbors. His biggest pleasure was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. His generous heart and friendly personality will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Maria and Adolf Lenz and his four brothers, Eduard, Otto, Adolf and Alfred.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Josephine (Hamacher) Lenz; his daughter, Patricia and her husband John Cristofich of Basking Ridge, NJ, and his grandsons, Adam and Stephen.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
Funeral services will start with a prayer at the funeral home on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 9:15 AM followed by a 10:00 AM funeral liturgy at St. Ann's R.C. Church in Raritan, NJ
Interment will follow at Cypress Hills Cemetery, 833 Jamaica Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.
