Robert S. Calogero Somerset, NJ Robert S. Calogero, 87, of Somerset, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at his home. He was born and raised in Brooklyn and resided there for most of his life before moving to Somerset 13 years ago. Robert joined the United States Army in 1951 before his honorable discharge in 1959. For over 30 years he worked as an Inspector for MTA in New York before his retirement in 1989. Robert was an avid Mets fan, loved playing cards, taking trips with family and friends to Atlantic City, and shooting pool. Most importantly he enjoyed spending quality time with his family especially his grandchildren. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents Marta and Donato Calogero; his beloved wife of 57 years, Rose Marie Celeste Calogero, five brothers, Elia, Joseph, Anthony, Alfred and John; and four sisters, Emma, Grace, Elizabeth, and Marie. Surviving are his loving daughter, Marianne and husband Paul DeStefano of Bridgewater, NJ; two dear sisters, Rose Mauro of Kings Park, Long Island, NY, and Anna and husband Nick Cagliuso of Rockville Center, Long Island, NY; two cherished grandchildren, Paul Robert and Olivia Marguerite Rose; and several wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins. Viewing will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Funeral services will start with a prayer at the funeral home at 9:30am on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 followed by a 10:30am funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church in South Bound Brook.
