Rita A.
Gorky
Nov 4, 1929 — Nov 6, 2024
In Loving Memory of Rita A. Gorky
With heavy hearts, we share the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Rita A Gorky, 95 who went to be with the Lord, on November 6th. Born on November 4th, 1929, in North NJ. Rita resided most of her life with her husband, Julius Gorky. They moved to South Plainfield NJ and then to Bridgewater NJ where they lived for 57 years, blessed with 74 years of marriage.
Rita was a devoted wife to her husband, and together they built a loving home and raised seven children, creating a family foundation that expanded over generations to include 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
At the heart of Rita's interests was her extraordinary passion for exploring artistic outlets. She worked across many mediums, including watercolor, acrylics, oils, sketching and ceramics. She became an accomplished lapidary and produced many beautiful gemstones that she shared with friends and family. Her artistic talents were also expressed in the way she lived her life—with a vibrant creativity and a love for beauty and nature. Rita enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at their Pocono Lake house. Swimming, boating and walks in the woods were among her favorite pastimes. Her works of art, as well as her gentle spirit, will remain treasured by her family and friends.
Rita was a devout Catholic and an active member of Saint Bernard's Catholic Church in Bridgewater, NJ, serving as a Lector for many years. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she found great joy and comfort within her church community.
Rita is preceded in death by her mother Lee DeCarlo and father Chester as well as her husband Julius V. Gorky, Jr. daughter, Christine A. Gorky, and grandson, Brett V. Gorky.
Surviving are her five sons, Paul and wife Donna Gorky of Denver, CO; David and wife Susan Gorky of Seneca, SC; Craig and wife Susan Gorky of Estero, FL; Peter and wife Naran Gorky of Bridgewater, NJ; Eric Gorky of Flemington, NJ; and one loving daughter, Judith Anderson of Key West, FL as well as 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In remembering Rita, we celebrate a life filled with love, creativity, and faith. She was a constant presence in the lives of those who loved her, and her memory will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.
