Obituary

Richard C. Wilson, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Flemington, NJ on Friday, October 18, 2019. He was born in Jersey City, NJ and lived in Franklin Park, NJ for before moving to Flemington. Richard has served others in many capacities through the years. He proudly served his country as a US Navy Ensign Second Class on the USS Chambers from 1953 to 1957. As a lifetime Franklin Park Volunteer fireman, he held the positions of Assistant Chief, Chief, and Chaplain. He was also elected to the Franklin Township Board of Fire Commissioners. Richard enjoyed his time teaching Sunday School and Confirmation classes at Bunker Hill Lutheran Brethren Church. He also served the church as a Deacon, Trustee, Elder and Elder Emeritus. He was a fisherman, an avid reader, and loved listening to his music. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandsons. Richard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty, daughters, Karen Wilson (of Carolina Shores, NC), Beth and Tom Norby (of Flemington, NJ) and their sons, Tommy and Jacob. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26 th, at Bunker Hill Lutheran Brethren Church in Griggstown (235 Bunker Hill Road, Princeton, NJ 08540). Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 pm followed by the service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bunker Hill Lutheran Church building fund at the address above.
