Richard D. Haig, Sr.
, 74, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at home. Born in Flushing, NY, he lived in Bridgewater for the past 35 years.
Richard began his working career with the U.S. Army in the 1950s with the Signal Corp, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, until his retirement from the Reserves in August, 1982. While serving in the Army, Richard began a career as an electrical engineer with Bell Labs and AT&T of NY and Bedminster for 20 years retiring in 1989. In 1971, Richard became the founder and owner of Haig's Service Corporation, an alarm company, which is still in operation in both New Jersey and Florida.
Richard was a communicant and member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church, Bridgewater. He was also a member of the Rahway Valley Barber Shop Chorus.
Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are Richard's wife of 44 years, Maria Arriaga Haig, his two loving sons, Richard, Jr. and daughter-in-law Pamela and Brian S. and daughter-in-law, Nancy, all of Bridgewater, his loving daughter, Judy Bernard and son-in law Christopher of Danbury, CT, six grandchildren, Samantha, Melanie, Kimberly, Conner, Haig, Martine, and two sisters, Louella MacAloose of Durham, NC and Lenore Plattiter of Rochester, NY.
