Raymond Arthur Marvin
Branchburg, NJ
Raymond Arthur Marvin, 76, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Ray spent the past 45 years residing in Branchburg.
Proud to serve his country and community, Ray served in the United States Navy from 1967-1971, with most of his time spent aboard the U.S.S. Mitscher DDG35. He was also a lifetime member of the Readington Volunteer Fire Company, starting in 1990.
An avid traveler, Ray enjoyed trips to Ireland, Alaska, Disney World, and the western United States. He and his young family would visit Hilton Head, SC every year, which later turned into a tradition that added his grandchildren as well.
During his free time, Ray loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was also a true handyman, designing and constructing anything the family needed.
More fondly known as Poppy, Ray was the foundation of the family along with his wife, Carol. He enjoyed every minute spent with his in-laws and cherished them as if they were his own family. Ray was most proud of his 53 years of marriage, his devoted daughters, and his 4 adoring grandchildren, who were his most precious treasures. He found no greater joy than holding a sleeping baby. If you were lucky enough to know Ray, you were sure to have a laugh, hear a story, and walk away a better person for having known him. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ruth and Alfred Marvin and his brother, Joe DeMonte.
Surviving are his loving wife, Carol Marvin; two daughters, Melissa and husband Mark Erickson of Neshanic Station, NJ; Jessica and husband Norbert Skowyra of Branchburg, NJ; his brother, Alfred Marvin of SC; and four cherished grandchildren, Will, Ben, Grayson, and Finley.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 10am-1:30pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 with a prayer service beginning at 12pm. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Readington Volunteer Fire Company, 6 Hillcrest Rd, White House Station, NJ 08889 https://www.rvfc32.org/ or the National Kidney Foundation https://www.kidney.org/.
Committal is private.
