Phyllis Dannucci Hovan, 87, of Branchburg, NJ, entered eternal life on December 11, 2020, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 22, 1933 in Somerville, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Michael Dannucci and Christina (Romano) Dannucci. Phyllis was a graduate of Bound Brook High and the Drake Business School, and she built a 25-year career at Ethicon, in Bridgewater, as a Buyer. She belonged to many clubs and organizations over the years, including the Branchburg Woman's Club and the "Shrinking Violets" chapter of the Red Hat Society where she served as the "Queen," a fitting title to her personality and also to her passion for the Royal Family. She was a former Board Member of the Girl Scouts of Rolling Hills Council and a former Trustee of the United Way of Somerset County, Inc. Phyllis loved life and the adventures it offered, and she was most happy sharing special times with her family and her many friends. She loved to travel, especially to her "second home" on Aruba, and she loved road trips to known and unknown destinations. She enjoyed the shore and her Seaside property, and she especially enjoyed trying her luck at casinos and at bingo. She was an avid learner and was always willing to try new things. She was particular about fashion and her hair and her nails, and she maintained a look that was uniquely hers. She loved to read and she loved music and sports, especially baseball and the NY Yankees. She had a lifelong passion for collecting dolls, and each one came with a story to share. She loved animals and they loved her. She acquired her last pet when her daughter's kitten, Lefty, bonded with her so deeply that the kitten wouldn't leave, and didn't. Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Michael (Mickey) Hovan. She is survived by her beloved three daughters, Linda (Christopher) Polaski of Hillsborough, Nancy (Randy) Kordell of South Bound Brook, and Michele Hovan of Delaware Township. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren, Brian Kordell, Jennifer (Tobi Williams-Davies) Kordell, Andrea (Scott Woodruff) Polaski, Matthew (Sona) Kordell, and Christopher Polaski. Due to the heightened contagion of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the family has asked that Phyllis's friends remain safe and refrain from gathering at this time. A private service for the family will be conducted at the Branchburg Funeral Home with a Christian Burial to follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Bridgewater. Phyllis was committed to supporting charities and programs that provide food to those in need. Donations in her memory may be made to the Community Food Bank of NJ (cfbnj.org) or to a food bank preferred by the donor. She was always concerned that so many go hungry, especially during the holiday season.
