Obituary

Philip F Glick, Jr Branchburg, NJ Philip Francis Glick Jr, 53, of Branchburg, NJ passed away on August 18, 2022 due to ongoing issues related to a heart condition. Philip was born in Denville, NJ to his late parents, Philip and Ann Carol (Peason) Glick and grew up in Mountain Lakes, NJ. He lived in Branchburg for the past 23 years. He is a graduate of Mountain Lakes High School and The College of New Jersey. Phil had a 10+ year career in reinsurance and later was a teacher and tutor for Kaplan Test Prep for over 15 years. He enjoyed seeing his students improve their scores and loved to share in their joy when they got accepted to the law school or graduate school they were hoping for. When classes slowed during the pandemic, Philip found a new calling working for the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, manning their helpline as a peer counselor. This was an issue he had struggled with and learned to overcome and manage over the years, so he was able to share his experience and was proud of his ability to help others. Phil loved playing, watching, and coaching sports. He was an avid (and long suffering, as he liked to say) fan of the Mets and Jets. He coached several Branchburg sports teams that his daughters played for, including lacrosse, soccer and basketball. He was by no means a jock, but that didn't stop him from enthusiastically participating in football, lacrosse, basketball, softball, tennis, and most recently pickle ball. His favorite activity was an informal gathering in Branchburg known as Sunday Morning Football, which he played in the park for over 20 years, complaining of aches and pains for days afterwards every week, but always going back for more. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He especially liked watching game shows like Jeopardy with his daughters, keeping a careful tally of the score and a record of who won each day (usually him). Philip is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kristen (Moscatello) Glick and daughters Kaitlin Glick and Allison Glick. He is also survived by his stepmother Kate Glick of Dover, DE and sister Hillary Hall Schibel (husband Dennis) of Branchburg, his nephews Kevin and Liam Hall, and his mother-in-law Sharon Hellwig of Bridgewater. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Arthur T. Hellwig (2021). Viewing will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Funeral services will start with a prayer at 9:15am at the funeral home on Wednesday August 24, 2022, followed by a 10am funeral mass at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
