Norma Catherine Fausak, 89, was granted her angel wings on March 24, 2021. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Norma had touched throughout her memorable and amazing life.
Norma was born in West New York, New Jersey in 1931 and resided in North Bergen where she raised her two children. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who endlessly loved spending time with her family. She loved all of her very special friendships. At a young age, Norma was an office worker in New York City. While commuting to work on a bus, Norma met the love of her life, Douglas Fausak. Shortly after, they were married and started a family. Norma was a wonderful homemaker and devoted most of her time and energy as a caretaker to family members and others in need. She had a passionate spirit in caring for others. Norma enjoyed knitting, decorating her home and being an incredible handywoman of her time. It was no surprise to see her with a hammer, screwdriver or on a ladder. If she could fix it, she would. Her strength and determination were endless. Norma was Doug's right hand when working around the house.
Norma was an active member of Trinity Reformed Church in West New York, New Jersey. She donated her time along with her husband Doug, driving the elderly to church on Sundays. Norma had become very involved with the church and was a member of the Couples Group and assisted with numerous fundraising events. Later in life, Norma moved to Branchburg to be with her family and became a member of the North Branch Reformed Church where she enjoyed attending services on Sunday and loved singing hymns.
Norma loved to travel with her dear friends following the loss of her husband after only 25 years of marriage. Her favorite pastime was people. Norma loved to go shopping, visiting others and loved the "Cheesecake Factory". A special treat was eating Hershey bars or ice cream as she always said "it just slides down".
Those who were touched by her understood the wonderful faith and love of life she carried daily. Her positive spirit was so inspiring. Her gentle smile and loving ways brought so much joy to her family. She had a passionate spirit in caring for others. Most of all, she loved her role as "Nana" as she was everyone's "Nana". May good memories live on. She will be greatly missed.
