Nicholas A.
Albanese
Sep 14, 1940 — May 2, 2025
Nicholas Angelo Albanese
September 14, 1940 – May 2, 2025
In loving memory
Nick Albanese, age 84, of Branchburg N.J. entered eternal life on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Nick was born and raised in Raritan, moving to Bridgewater as a teenager into a home built by his father. Branchburg has been his home for the past 57 years.
Nick (Sonny) was predeceased by his loving parents Nicola (Nick) and Anna Albanese, sister Diane Given, brother-in-law Ray Given, and sister Bonnie Albanese.
Nick is survived by his high school sweetheart, true teammate in life, and wife of 64 years, Alice Albanese, daughter, Susan Bechamps and son-in-law Thom, son Nick Albanese and daughter-in-law Kathy, brother and sister-in-law Al and Diane Stasiek, grandchildren Kaitlyn, Jordan, Renee, and Christian, and great grandchildren Presley, Kennedy, and Aiden.
He is a 1958 graduate of Somerville High School and a 1977 graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. His first job was working summers as a masonry laborer for his Uncle Sam (Salvatore Albanese). Nick began his career at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill and retired as a Director at Lucent Technology in Middletown after a 36-year career. He's been a parishioner at St. Bernard's church for the past 64 years.
Nick enjoyed lifelong friendships with the "boys" from Raritan and his fellow draftsmen from early in his career. He liked playing and watching sports (including wrestling, baseball, football, and golf), working outside, and watching the rain.
With his wife, Alice, Nick loved spending time with his family, day trips to New York City, long walks (from Duke Island Park to Acadia), beach vacations (from Seaside Park to St. John), national parks, and trips abroad, especially Italy. Nick enjoyed the planning almost as much as the destination.
Nick was a down-to-earth man who loved life and wore his heart on his sleeve.
