Obituary

Naomi Swayne Mallory , 83, died peacefully at her residence on Thursday, July 20, 2006. Naomi was born July 24, 1922 in Camden, NJ, to the late William Townsend and Louise Margarethe Eichel Swayne. She was the second of seven children and was preceded in death by her siblings, May, William, Clarissa and Thomas. Naomi married her beloved husband, Robert Arthur Mallory on October 3, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1985. She lived for 54 years in the home they built together. She worked as a librarian in the medical library for the Somerset Medical Center for many years before retiring. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Somerville, a member and past president of the Branchburg Women's Club and an active 4-H leader for many years. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, knitting, embroidering, as well as various other activities. She loved classical music and the opera. She was a baseball fan and had followed the Yankees and Mets for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her four beloved daughters, Clarissa Elliott and husband, Ernest of Monterey, VA, Alicia Byrd and husband, James of Somerville, MA, Candia Lee and husband, William of Kyle, TX and Pamela Mallory-Ricker and husband, William of Dorchester, MA, seven grandchildren, Melissa, Cynthia, Ernest, Jessica, Justin, Henry and Louisa, five great-grandchildren, Fiona, Jack, Faith, Grace and Hope, her two beloved sisters Jean Dahms of Bristol, PA and Phyllis Archer of Chapel Hill, NC and several nieces and nephews.
