Michael F. Tenore, 76, of St. Augustine, Florida (formerly of Branchburg, NJ) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Mike was born on June 11, 1948 to Fred M. Tenore and Phyllis M. Tenore (nee Alfano) and was raised in Newark, NJ.

Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of St. Leo University, in St. Leo, FL, where he was a brother of the Kappa Alpha Sigma fraternity. After graduation, he came back to NJ where he married his wife, Jane E. Tenore (nee Burnham) and started working as a coin box collector for New Jersey Bell Telephone. Thanks to that job, he stumbled upon Branchburg Township and decided that was the place where he was going to raise his family. Mike was a member and former President of the Board of Education and spent two terms on the Township Committee, serving as Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Police Commissioner as well as being a member of various Township Boards and the Branchburg Republican Club. He also took on being the Director of the Natomie District of the Boy Scouts and coaching his daughter's softball team. In his professional career, he spent 30 years working for the phone company and advanced through the security division New Jersey Bell/Verizon. He was an active member of ASIS International and served as Vice President and Secretary of the local chapter.

Upon his retirement in 2005, he moved back to his beloved Florida and helped design the beautiful new home he and his wife shared in St. Augustine. The Tenore family was never without a dog and upon his return to FL, Budweiser "Buddy" found Mike outside and decided that he was going to be the newest addition to the family. Buddy spent 16 years enjoying being spoiled by Mike. While in St. Augustine, Mike became a Master Gardner, was the PR Director for his gun club, was on the HOA Board for Moses Creek Estates and spent three years on the St. Leo University Board of Directors. While on the Board, he was a part of the campaign to erect a Kappa Alpha Sigma fraternity memorial, which his brothers will now be adding him to. He loved to spend his free time by the pool with a cigar or at the gun club and he enjoyed the monthly "Dinner Club" with his neighbors.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Phyllis Tenore and his wife Jane.

He is survived by his cherished daughters, Michele Tenore of Bridgewater, NJ and Lisa Tenore of Hillsborough, NJ, his son/best friend, Fred Tenore and his wife, Rebecca Tenore (nee Matushewsky) of Readington, NJ, as well as his adored granddaughters, Angelina Tenore and Abigail Tenore. Also surviving Mike is his companion of the past few years, Rosemarie Perretta.

Viewing will be held Monday, April 21, 2025 from 5-8 pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 10:30am.

Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
