Obituary

Michael J. Miceli Neshanic Station, NJ Michael J. Miceli, 56, of Neshanic Station, NJ, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Born in Newark, NJ, Michael resided in Bloomfield for most of his youth. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1984, before embarking on his career as a police officer in the Bloomfield Police Department. He rose to the rank of captain over his 25 years of service before retiring in 2015. In 1991, Michael met the love of his life, Sandra Ombalsky. They married in 1996, settled in Neshanic Station, and raised their two beautiful boys, Michael and Matthew. Michael enjoyed many things, but he treasured his family most of all. He especially enjoyed watching his boys grow up playing the game they love, from t-ball all the way up to college baseball. Relaxing family trips to Ocean City were also cherished by Michael. An avid sports fan, Michael rooted for his Yankees and Rangers. He was a retired member of the Bloomfield PBA Local #32. Michael was an amazing cook, enjoyed drinking Dunkin Donuts coffee while driving his Hellcat and cherished the days spent dining and playing Blackjack in Atlantic City. He would want you to remember his wonderful sense of humor, his love of life and the way he could always make others smile. Michael is survived and beloved by many: his loving wife of 25 years, Sandra Ombalsky Miceli, and their two dear sons, Michael and Matthew; his mother Carolyn Roskowski and her husband Peter; his sister Karen Veneziano and her husband Derek Kiley; his niece Nicolina Rutherford and her husband Sean; his nephew Michael Veneziano; his late father's companion Judy Kopec; his brother-in-law Joseph Ombalsky and his wife Isabelle; his nephew Joseph Ombalsky, Jr.; his double doodle Reggie; as well as many other cherished family and friends. Michael was predeceased by his father Michael Miceli; his paternal grandparents Beatrice and Michael Miceli; his maternal grandparents Theadora and Michael Sileo; and his mother- and father-in-law Carole and Joseph Ombalsky, Jr. Visitors will be received Saturday, May 7, 6-8 pm, and Sunday, May 8, 1-5 pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home in South Branchburg. A prayer service will be held there on Monday, May 9, at 10 am. Immediately following, a funeral mass will take place at 11 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Three Bridges.
