Mary B. Summers, 88, of Flemington, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Hunterdon Medical Center. Born in Jersey City, NJ, she resided in Edison, NJ for 25 years, then moved to Sun City West, AZ, where she resided for 17 years of her life, then moved to Warminster PA, for 6 years before moving to Flemington in January.
Mary was known to be very active in all the communities that she resided in. While living in Arizona, Mary was a hospital volunteer, a member of Catholic Charities, served as a Teacher's Aid in the Sun City West School System, and was on the Sun City West Library Board. When returning to Warminster, PA, Mary established the Friends of Michelle Club. Before her retirement in 1994, Mary worked for the Star Ledger Newspaper as the Regional Circulation Manager. She was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Mary loved traveling around the world, took pride in her gardening, taking trips to Atlantic City, and was always active in multiple service organizations. She mostly cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she absolutely adored. Mary will be sadly missed and remain forever in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Stella and Richard McGuire, her beloved husband of 44 wonderful years, John "Jack" Nicholas Summers (1996); her loving son, John Michael (1972); three loving sisters, and three loving brothers.
Surviving are her five sons, Richard and wife ToniAnne of Lindenhurst, Long Island, NY, William "Bill" of Attleboro, MA; James and wife Joanne of Wrentham, MA; Robert and wife Jayne of Westfield, NJ, and Kevin of San Antonio, TX; three loving daughters, Katie and husband Bert Kosup of Ft. Myers, FL, Mary and husband Alan Marks of Muttontown, Long Island, NY, and Anne and husband John Korn of Flemington, NJ; seventeen cherished grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael, John, Steven, Courtney, Scott, Mason, Stacey, Sarah, Meghan, John, Thomas, Hannah, Mary, Jack, Colin, and Paige; and four adored great-grandchildren, Aliena, Lorenzo, Jackson, and Henry.
Viewing will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
Funeral services will start with a prayer at the funeral home on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 9:15am followed by a 10:00am funeral liturgy at St. Ann's R.C. Church in Raritan.
Committal will be private.
