Mary K. Saraga Marfat , 89, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Raritan Health and Extended Care in Raritan. Born in Croatia, she immigrated to the United States when she was 7 years old. She grew up in Boothwyn, PA, resided in Brooklyn, NY and Delaware before moving to Hillsborough ten years ago. Mrs. Marfat was a Bookkeeper for the United States Navy for ten years, until retiring in 1986. Prior to that, she worked alongside her husband in their family superette. Mary was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed crocheting, deep sea fishing, bowling and dancing. Mary also enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by beloved husband of 45 years, Anton Marfat in 1985. Surviving are her three loving daughters, Patricia Ianiro and husband, Patrick of Hillsborough, Antoinette Lassen of Morrisville, NC and Maryann O'Neill and husband, John of Branchburg; her eight cherished grandchildren, Frank, Peter, David, Jeannine, Thomas, John Patrick, Matthew and Jesse; eight great grandchildren, Ashley, Rebecca, Jessica, Abigail, Carson, Patrick, Joel, and Anna Brielle; her three dear brothers, Walter Saraga and wife, Lillian of Boothwyn, PA, Emil Saraga and wife, Amelia of Wilmington, DE and Charles Saraga and wife, Florence of Sebastian, FL. Funeral services will begin with a prayer at 9:15 AM Monday, February 28, 2011 at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 followed by a 10 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Bernard R.C. Church, 500 Route 22 East, Bridgewater. Entombment will be at Franklin Memorial Park, 1800 Route 27, North Brunswick. Viewing hours are Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
