Mary Ann
Roupas
Jan 27, 1945 — Mar 2, 2026
Mary Ann Roupas, 81, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026. She was a beloved wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother of five. She grew up in Bloomfield, NJ where she met the love of her life, Dan Roupas, to whom she was married for 57 years. She and Dan settled in Branchburg, where they raised a family and resided for 46 years.
A passionate educator, Mary Ann earned her master's degree from the College of New Jersey and taught earth science at Branchburg Central Middle School for 28 years before retiring. One of her greatest joys was instilling in her students a love of science and experimentation.
A true nature lover, Mary Ann spent many happy hours at home in her yard. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher who took great care of her flowers, her bluebird houses and her fishpond. She and Dan shared a lifetime of travel adventures, from the US National Parks to the beaches of the Jersey Shore to the sights of Europe. But her favorite moments were those spent with her family and her five grandchildren, who were the absolute lights of her life.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Sophie and Edward Zakrzewski, and her two brothers, Edward and Joseph Zakrzewski.
Surviving are her loving husband, Dan Roupas, her cherished daughter, Wendy and husband Lucas Boise of Huntington, NY, her dear son, Peter and wife Heather Roupas of Oakmont, PA, and five adored grandchildren: Max, Daniel, Levi, Annelisa, and Alice.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21st at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Three Bridges, NJ between 1:00 and 2:00 pm, followed by a funeral mass at 2:00 pm. Afterwards, please join the family for a reception at the Stoney Brook Grille in Branchburg at 3:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Nature Conservancy or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
