Mario M. Maggio, 83, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at his home. Born January 1, 1937 in Somerville, NJ, Mario was the son of Biagio and Teodora (DeLellis) Maggio. Mario resided in Bound Brook for 36 years, then Middlesex for 6 years, before moving to Branchburg 41 years ago. Mario graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1955. Shortly after graduating, he served in the United States Army from 1956-1958 as a Corporal 4th Class. Following his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Mario worked at American Cyanamid for several years before becoming a State Farm Insurance Agent in 1965, a position he held until his retirement in 1998. Mario was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed watching all sports and was a big fan of the Chicago Bears and thoroughbred horse racing. He also loved animals, especially his dogs. Most importantly, Mario loved spending quality time with his family and friends. He was also an active member of the Bound Brook Monte Carmelo Society. Mario was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years Helen Arthur Maggio, a sister Maria "Molly" Mondrone, and a brother Benedetto B. Maggio. Mario is survived by several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Seeing Eye. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
