Marie A. Piatkowski, 83 passed away May 31, 2024, in her Neshanic Station, New Jersey home surrounded by her loving family.

Marie fought valiantly against pancreatic cancer, demonstrating incredible strength and resilience until her last breath. She was born in Jersey City on June 28, 1940, to Madeline and Charles Bataglio.

Upon her graduation in 1960 from William L. Dickinson High School, Jersey City, she married her sweetheart, Arthur. Marie and Artie met at Ziggy's Sweet Shoppe in Jersey City. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. They resided in Jersey City until moving to Menlo Park Terrace in1967 and then settled in their cherished home in Neshanic Station in 1984.

Marie was a devoted mother to her three sons, who brought immeasurable joy and love to her life. Her role as a mother was one that she embraced wholeheartedly, never hesitating to shower her children with unconditional love, support and guidance. She was an adoring Grandmother of five grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them, cherishing the laughter, stories and experiences they shared together.

In her leisure time, she relished family trips to Wildwood Crest. Marie's love for the beach began in her early childhood spending summers with her parents and siblings in Lavallette. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore various destinations such as the Poconos, Vernon Valley, Atlantic City, Nashville, Las Vegas, Chicago, Bermuda, Niagara Falls, and Washington, D.C.

Marie enjoyed fulfilling engagements at Marine Midland Bank, Orrs and Kohls. Devoted to her community, she served as treasurer of the NJ National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), dedicating her time and energy to promote mental health advocacy. Marie was a devoted parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Bridgewater.

Marie leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and strength.

She was predeceased by her parents, Madeline (nee Dickinson) and Charles Bataglio, stepfather Vic Grillo and sister Sandra Kraus.

Marie is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years Arthur, sons Steven and his wife Ju, Ronald and his wife Lora and David, grandchildren John and Jamie, Alexis, Kelsey, Kaio and Victoria, brother Charles Bataglio and his wife Rose, brother-in-law Jack Kraus and a host of nieces and nephews and countless friends who were lucky enough to have known her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5 from 4 – 7 pm at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.

Funeral services will begin on Thursday at 10 am at Holy Trinity Church, 60 Maple Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the NJ NAMI-Somerset County chapter (naminj.org) in Marie's honor.
