Marianne G. Piazza
Branchburg, NJ
Marianne Piazza, 76, of Branchburg, NJ passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023. Born in Bronx, NY, Marianne resided in Somerville for 10 years and Manalapan for 20 years before moving to Branchburg 15 years ago.
Marianne graduated from St. Paul's High School in Petersburg, FL, Class of 1965. She then went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Marymount College, Class of 1969.
Shortly after, Marianne started working for AT&T as a Project Manager for 30 plus years before her retirement in 2002.
Marianne was very active with her church. She taught CCD for several years at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville. Teaching the children there was one of her greatest joys.
Marianne had a love for music, and traveling. She loved going on cruises and taking trips down to the Jersey Shore, but it was her love for animals that truly set her apart – All God's creatures great and small. She remained in contact with her close friends from college - "The Marymount Girls" and especially loved their weekends together. Marianne could spin a yarn with the best of them, she had a story for everything. She had an air about her, an excitement her laughter was contagious. And her appreciation for the smallest acts of kindness was immeasurable. Her family was a great source of pride for her, Marianne spoke fondly of her niece and nephew and all their accomplishments. If you were lucky enough to count Marianne as one of your friends then you were simply lucky enough.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mary and Edward Gruel.
Surviving are her dear brother, Frederick and wife Susan Gruel of Ocean Grove, NJ; a niece, Lauren Diemar of Bernardsville, NJ; a nephew, Andrew Gruel of Huntington Beach, CA; two great nieces, Charlotte and Jadyn, five great nephews, Thomas, Alexander, William, Jack, and James, and her two canine companions, Chelsea and Jackson.
Memorial contributions may be made in Marianne's memory to Branchburg Rescue Squad 113 River Road Branchburg, NJ 08876 or St. Hubert's Animal Shelter https://www.sthuberts.org/.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
