Margaret R. Leo
, beloved wife of John V. Leo and loving mother, died at her home in Bridgewater, N.J. on June 1, 2009, surrounded by her husband and children. Margaret, known to everyone as Midge, was the daughter of Virginia E. (Dakin) and David C. Grahame. She was born in Amherst, MA.
Midge received her B.S. from Vassar College in NY, and her M.A. from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Her M.A. was in meteorology, which was a lifelong passion she shared with her husband, also a meteorologist. Midge earned her pilot's license in 1966 and loved flying with her sons, also pilots. She was an intrepid traveler, willing to go anywhere, anytime.
Midge was a warm and welcoming person. She loved meeting new people and was always a favorite with her children's friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Midge is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, John Leo; her daughter Margaret Dakin of Amherst, MA; daughter Melanie Wescott and husband, Patrick, of Philadelphia, PA; sons John Leo, Jr. of Bridgewater and David Leo of Charlotte, NC; her granddaughter, Faye; and her brother, John Grahame of Flagstaff, AZ.
Funeral Services will begin Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 214 Church Street, Bound Brook, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Margaret Leo's name may be made to Haven Hospice, c/o JFK Medical Center Foundation, 80 James Street, Edison, NJ, 08818.
