Louisa Cohn

Louisa Cohn, affectionately known as "Weezy" by her son-in-law and close family, lived a vibrant life and lived it her own way. Whether it was traveling on her motorcycle, enjoying unique cuisine, or giving back to the community, she always did what she wanted and wouldn't be told no. She was a lover of the arts and literature and this love was evident in the many things she was involved in over the years. She was a vital member of the Smyrna Public Library, serving on the Board for over 10 years. While there, she supported over 100 artist exhibit installations along with organizing the book sales and bookstore. She loved Smyrna and looked forward to their Jonquil Festival each year. She and her many, many friends enjoyed playing weekly trivia, joining in a neighborhood chili cook-off, or just sharing a nice lunch.

Louisa valued literacy and education above all else and was a longtime volunteer tutor as part of Literacy Volunteers of America. She loved getting to know her students and seeing them thrive and grow throughout their sessions. She also loved to travel and would collect unique trinkets wherever she went. Her outgoing demeanor, along with her witty sense of humor, extended to her daughter and grandchildren, for whom she would plan a stop on her travels and deliver carefully selected gifts, always what she thought they should have rather than what was on some predetermined list. She was a pillar of strength and independence in life, a lover of animals, and will be remembered in love and missed dearly by her family, friends, and community. She left behind a legacy of friendship and charity to those that knew her.

Louisa attended Montclair University and then earned her Master's Degree in Library Science at Rutgers University. She worked as a Technical Writer at Coca-Cola in Atlanta until her retirement.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alfred and Tobi Goldberg, her loving husband Bennett Cohn, and her dear brother Shep Goldberg.

Surviving are her loving daughter Shavaun and husband Michael Gliksman of Branchburg, NJ; two cherished grandchildren Ian and Alonna Gliksman; and dear sister-in-law Belinda Goldberg.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 12:30pm -2pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876 with eulogies starting at 1pm. Committal is private.
