Leon J. Sikanowicz, 88, of Whitehouse Station, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Leon was born and raised in South Plainfield, NJ. He graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1950. He played varsity basketball and football. After High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon returning from Korea, he became a NJ Licensed Master Plumber and started his own business Oakland Plumbing & Heating, Inc. Leon was in business for over 50 years and was also an avid investor in Real Estate and enjoyed following the stock market. Leon enjoyed the Jersey Shore, reading newspapers, sports, discussing politics and Fox News. He was always there to help family and friends mentally, physically and financially. Anyone in need "just ask". He is preceded in death by his son Mark and his brother in law Ralph Longo. Surviving are his loving wife Frances Longo Sikanowicz, his son Kenneth and wife Kristen, his brother in law Nicholas Longo and wife Evelyn. He was also the cherished grandfather of Kristy, Valerie, Julia, and Anthony. Leon was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to his memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A memorial services will be announced at a later time.
