Karen L. Liss
Bridgewater, NJ
Karen L. Liss (nee Graebner), 85, of Bridgewater, NJ, formerly of New Providence, NJ, and Lakeville, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
Karen was born in Saginaw, Michigan, the youngest of eight children of the late August and Leona Graebner (nee Ballien); she spent her early years on the Graebner Family Dairy farm until her father's passing. She moved with her mother and siblings to Chicago, Illinois, where she graduated from Lakeview High School.
On July 11, 1959, Karen married the love of her life, Conrad Liss, with whom she shared 55 devoted years of marriage before his passing. Together, they raised five children in New Providence, NJ, and later retired to the Woodland Hills Community in Lakeville, PA.
Karen had a long and dedicated career at Kemper Insurance Company, where she worked for 25 years before retiring in 1999. Beyond her professional life, she was a woman of deep faith and an active member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, where she volunteered through the Ladies Auxiliary and coached CYO Girls Basketball.
A spirited competitor and lover of sports, Karen enjoyed playing tennis, cards, bowling, and golf, especially when it meant spending time with her beloved family and friends. Her greatest joy, however, came from being "Grandma" to her nine cherished grandchildren. She delighted in spoiling them with gifts and trips to Penny Lane candy store, creating memories at the family home on Lake Wallenpaupack that will be treasured forever.
Karen is survived by her loving children and their spouses: Michael Liss (Sue), Mark Liss (Michelle), Nancy Muha (Rich), James Liss (Mary), and Thomas Liss (Michele); and her adored grandchildren, Robert, Matthew, Brian (Amy), Kevin, Julia, Emily, Nicholas, Michael, and Vincent. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Vincent Liss of Dayton, OH, and her dear sisters-in-law, Joanne Kengott of Barrington, IL, Joanne Graebner of Virginia Beach, VA; Lynne Graebner of Aurora, IL; and Norma Grossman of Niles, IL.
Karen's life was marked by kindness, faith, and a deep love for her family. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
