June M. Lathrop Spiritual Advocate Flemington, N.J. On Friday, October 22, 2004, June Mathewson Lathrop, 80, lost her battle against cancer at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, N.J. She was born December 4, 1923, in Plainfield to Dorothy and Matty Mathewson. She resided there until moving to Readington 11 years ago. While growing up in Plainfield she attended Plainfield public schools later graduating from Westminster College, PA. June worked as a Secretary for a Wall Street attorney and spiritually and mentally supported her husband in his Pediatric practice for forty years while raising six children. June was committed to God and her family: praying for people, leading people to Christ through love and Bible study, and helping people to grow in their faith. She was a former member of the Woodside Chapel in Fanwood where she taught Sunday School and was very active in Bible studies. June was a member of the Calvary Bible Church and had hosted Friday night Bible studies. In her spare time June enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Roberts, on October 21, 2004. Surviving are her beloved husband of 51 years Dr. Fred Lathrop, five daughters, Barbara Starosciak and son-in-law Paul of So. Lyon, MI, Jorie Roberts, New Milford, CT, Betsy Sebastian and son-in-law, Mark of Vernon Hills, IL, BeBe Larson and son-in-law Ron of Ann Arbor, MI, Mary McCaw and son-in-law Bob of Hillsborough, N.J., one son, Eric and daughter-in-law Sondra of Readington, N.J., sixteen grandchildren, Lindsey, Twila, Allison, PJ, Justin, Kelsey, Rachel, Lauren, Carrie, Emily, Andrew, Billy, Kristi, Eric, Tyler and Matthew, one brother, Richard Mathewson and sister-in-law, Jane of Fullerton, CA, and several nieces and nephews. Viewing will be 7 – 9 p.m. Sunday at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, N.J. An additional viewing will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Calvary Bible Church 144 Readington Road, Readington, N.J. (Whitehouse Station) with 7:30 P.M. Prayer Services. Graveside services will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Camp Brett Endeavor, 245 Stanton Mountain Road, Lebanon, N.J. 08833.
