Joseph D. Wood Jr., 78, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at RWJ Somerset. Born in Somerville, NJ and raised in Branchburg, Joseph attended Somerville High School. He was a lifelong resident of Somerset County and resided in Branchburg for the past 34 years. In his early career, Joseph was a self-employed truck driver traveling all over the country. He owned and operated his own successful Mac Tool dealership. Later, he was employed by Taylor Oil Company in Somerville as a truck driver for 25 years before his retirement in 2009. Joe adored racing and NASCAR and loved going to Flemington Speedway to watch the midget cars. He owned his own midget car and raced throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. Joseph had a deep love for animals especially his dogs and cats and birds that he cared for. He enjoyed salt water fishing, boating, and camping. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents Mary and Joseph D. Wood Sr. Surviving are his devoted wife Mary Ann Wood (Frost) of 50 years, his dear son Chris Frost and wife Cindy Dalrymple of Branchburg, NJ; his sister Debbie Medwick and husband Ken of Flemington, NJ; a brother Robert Wood and wife Betty of Lakeport, NY; one cherished grandson, Christopher Frost, and loving nephew and nieces, Kenny Medwick, Jennifer Medwick, Merri Sheh, Robyn Bailey, and Karyn Wells.
