Joseph J. Marotta Branchburg, NJ Joseph J. Marotta, 86, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 24, 1929 to his dear parents Josephine Viggiano and Rocco Marotta, Joseph lived in Hillsborough before moving to Branchburg over 29 years ago. At age 19, he won a bodybuilding contest for Best Abs in NYC. He married Joan Lopeck on August 24, 1957, and raised 4 beautiful children. After serving in the Army as a Sargent, he owned an ice cream parlor in Yonkers and later owned his own Luncheonette in the Bronx called the "Katonah Coffee Shop". Then, Joseph worked as a district manager of food sales and service for Macke Food Service in PA and later was in vending sales. He was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Trinity, a member of the Holy Name Society, and ran many of their breakfast and dinner fund raisers. Joseph was also a member of the Branchburg Senior Citizens. He was kind, caring and generous, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, eight brothers and one sister. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joan Lopeck Marotta; two loving sons, Joseph R. Marotta of Denver, CO, and Robert Marotta and wife Linda of Annandale, NJ; 2 adoring daughters, Denise Lopes and husband Joseph of DE, and Donna Eberling and husband Thomas of Clinton, NJ; six dear grandchildren Angela Allen and husband Rob, Joseph Lopes, Lindsay Eberling, Jenna Eberling, Jake Marotta and Katie Marotta; and one cherished great-grandchild, Rockland Allen. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Route 202 So., Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908-526-7638). Funeral Services will start with a prayer service at the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Friday, April 29, 2016, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 60 Maple Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Entombment will be at St. Bernard's Cemetery and Mausoleum, Bridgewater, NJ.
