Joseph Rene La Pointe Summerton, SC Our beloved father Joseph Rene La Pointe, 80, of Summerton, SC, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Somerville, NJ. Rene loved spending time outside taking care of his yard and playing with his dog, Missy. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary our Lord of Hope Manning, SC. He was born in Somerville on October 25, 1940, a son of the late Rene G. and Christine Salegna La Pointe. He grew up in Long Valley and had lived in Peapack and retired to South Carolina in 1997. Rene was a 1958 graduate of Hackettstown High School in Hackettstown. Then proceeded further education a Rutgers University for Engineering Program. He worked as the Superintendent of Public Works of Peapack for over 30 years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Paterno, four sisters, Lucille Riley, Alice LeClair, Janet Hockin, and Joan Foley, and his brother Richard La Pointe. Rene is survived by his daughter Mary Anne Bolink and her husband Matthew Bolink, of Branchburg, NJ; a son, Rene (Chip) La Pointe of Warren, NJ; three grandchildren, Brianna, Amethyst, and Ashley; and his brother, Jerry La Pointe of West Palm Beach, FLA; and his beloved pup, Missy of Warren, NJ.
