It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Ruano, a devoted father, loving husband, and a true fighter who valiantly battled three types of cancer for nearly four years. He peacefully departed this world on August 3rd, 2023, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his beloved family.

Jose was born on March 17, 1967 to parents Israel Fuentes Ruano and Matea Parada de Ruano in Canton La Delicias, El Salvador. In 1983, he went on to study Electrical Construction at Instituto Tecnico El Salvador. Shortly after graduating in 1985, Jose came to the United States in 1988 and quickly created a life that many dream of. Finding work as a chef, that same year he met Patricia through mutual friends. They married in 1991 and went on to have Lillian, their only child, in 1998. They had 32 years together as they built a family founded on love and throughout the years they offered each other unwavering support and love that everyone who knew them could see.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family, watching all levels of soccer, or taking Rosie, the family dog, on long walks around Somerville. The little moments always felt monumental when they were together. Despite Jose denying it, he was talented at just about any task he took on, whether it was preparing effortlessly impressive meals or completing household tasks, he always got it done without thinking twice.

Jose was predeceased by his parents, Israel Fuentes Ruano and Matea Parada de Ruano and his brother Elmer Andres. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his daughter, Lillian, and his siblings; Migel, Mauricio, Cruz Antonio, Gloria, Manuel, Luis, Rigo, Dora, Edwin, and Delmy. A hard worker and a family man, Jose not only left a mark on the hearts of the people around him, but

also on his fur baby, Rosie. He was loved by many and was the epitome of the American Dream.

Services will be held at Branchburg Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 9th from 4:00-8:00pm. A prayer service will be held from 7:30-8:00 pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home.
