John Stellakis Long Branch, NJ John Stellakis, 77, of Long Branch, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Center for Hope Hospice. Born in Lira Laconia, Greece, John immigrated to Australia at the age of seventeen and then came to the United States a few years later. He resided in South Plainfield for 31 years before moving to Long Branch 9 years ago. John was the owner and operator of Sherban's Diner in South Plainfield for 42 years before retiring in 2015. Recently he was working as a banquet chef at Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch. Mr. Stellakis loved to spend time with his family, cook, take walks on the beach and enjoy the sunshine. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Vasiliki and Leonidas Stellakis, and two sisters, Theodora Kokkinakis and Anna Sideris. Surviving are his devoted wife of 42 years, Eileen Planas Stellakis, three caring sons, Victor and wife Jenny Stellakis of Scotch Plains, NJ; Lee and wife Jordan Stellakis of Chicago, IL; Stanley and wife Katie Stellakis of Bridgewater, NJ; two loving daughters, Vassie and husband John Halkiadakis of Bridgewater, NJ; Stephanie and husband Bill Martorana of Boonton, NJ; two brothers, Dennis and wife Terry Stellakis of Holmdel, NJ; Chris and wife Loula Stellakis of Holmdel, NJ; and twelve cherished grandchildren, John, Anastasia, Georgea, Leonidas, Zoey, Zachary, Marie, John, Frank, Evangelia, Emilia, and Jacob. Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to the MPN Research Foundation (mpnresearchfoundation.org). Funeral services are private and under the direction of the Branchburg Funeral Home. A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date.
