John Sergio, 90, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Somerville. Born in Brooklyn, NY, John married Anna Treutlein 1957 in Germany and returned home to New York City from the Air Force. The couple moved to New Jersey and raised four children. They moved to West Orange 1971 and subsequently divorced in 1974. John met his second wife Lenore in 1980 and resided in West Orange another 28 years before moving to Rockaway 13 years ago.
John graduated from Xavier High School class of 1948 in Manhattan, NY. After graduating and with the ROTC, he went on to receive his Bachelor's in Business from Georgetown University. John worked in Executive Management for Macy's in Newark for 30 plus years before retiring in 1996.
John and Lenore were married in 1990, the two were inseparable, John's first priority was for his wife and best friend, Lenore. The two loved to travel, spend time with family and friends, host summer BBQ's and their famous New Year's get-togethers.
John enjoyed playing cards, DIY projects, gardening and watching television with Lenore. John loved going to Costco for hotdogs on Tuesdays with his honey bunny, Lenny. John also enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Philimena and John Sergio, a daughter Melinda Sergio, and two sisters, Annette Sibilla and Rita Wright.
Surviving are his dear wife of 31 years, Lenore W. Sergio, Three dear sons, Thomas and wife Elisabeth Schoen of Atlanta, GA; Albert and wife Liza Sergio of Toms River, NJ; Daniel of Verona, NJ; Step dear sons, David and wife Karen Weinstein of West Orange, NJ; Andrew Weinstein of Bridgewater, NJ and Jed and wife Amy of Bridgewater, NJ; Two loving step daughter's Mindi and husband Gerardo Estevez of Montgomery, TX and Joy and husband Michael Sharenow of Warren, NJ;
12 cherished grandchildren, Mychel, Jerry, Marc, Samantha, Daniel, Brittani, Sabrina, Alyssa, Justin, Sophie, Zachary, and Max.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 10-10:30am at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 RT. 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876.
A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 10:30am. Entombment will follow at The Chapels at Short Hills in Millburn, NJ.
